Website: The University of Ioannina

Study Abroad Ioannina is a tuition-free academic summer program focusing on the Greek language and Epirote culture, available to anyone of Epirotic descent, ages 18-30.

In previous years, Epirotes from many nations, including the United States, Germany, Sweden, Albania, Belgium, South Africa, and Argentina, have participated. Students live on the University of Ioannina campus and have full access to all services offered by the university. Language classes are held weekday mornings. Multiple class levels are offered and no previous knowledge of the Greek language is needed. Dance classes, lectures, and excursions take place some afternoons, evenings, and weekends. Past outings have included trips to Meteora and Metsovo, Dodoni, Lefkada, Zagori, and Perama. Attendees have also been able to experience the Panagiris in nearby villages. Recent participants have described the program as an essential part of their understanding of the Greek language and Epirote culture.
